3. Jamie Foxx . . . His real name is Eric Marlon Bishop. He decided to go with a unisex name to disguise himself from other comedians who’d been blocking him from performing on open mic nights because they didn’t want the competition.
4. Michael Keaton . . . His real name is Michael John Douglas. He changed his name since Michael Douglas and Mike Douglas already existed in the union. He looked through “K” names and thought “Keaton” was good enough.
5. David Bowie . . . His real name is David Robert Jones. He chose “Bowie” in honor of the character Jim Bowie in “The Alamo”.
6. Alicia Keys . . . Her real name is Alicia Augello Cook. She chose “Keys” because it reminded her of piano keys.
7. Elton John . . . His birth name was Reginald Kenneth Dwight. He legally changed his name due to unhappy childhood memories.
8. Natalie Portman . . . Her real name is Neta-Lee Hershlag. Portman is her paternal grandmother’s maiden name.
9. Miley Cyrus . . . Her birth name was Destiny Hope Cyrus. She legally changed it to Miley Ray Cyrus in 2008, which is inspired by her childhood nickname “Smiley”.
10. Emma Stone . . . Her real name is Emily Jean Stone. She wanted to be called Emma because she was a fan of Baby Spice, Emma Bunton.
