Americans Have “Strong Opinions” on Water Preference

Do you drink tap water, or only bottled water?  If you drink tap, would you drink water from the break room sink at work?  If you drink bottled water, are there only certain brands you’ll drink?  In a new survey, 66% of Americans said they have “strong opinions” about water, but they’re kind of all over the place.

For example, nearly 70% of people said they trust their tap water is safe to drink, yet nearly 25% of them said they won’t drink it.  54% said they will only drink tap water in their OWN home, not at a friend’s or at work.

69% of people say they preferred bottled water to tap, but 36% said they “always” end up refilling a plastic bottle with tap water.  32% of those who say they prefer bottled water say it’s mostly just a shopping habit.

And 37% couldn’t say why they preferred bottled water over tap.  But 55% said they catch themselves drinking less water if they don’t have bottled water nearby.
