Those Little Candy Discs from “Squid Game” Are Selling Out

If you haven’t watched “Squid Game”, that Korean series that’s burning up Netflix, get on that now.  First, it’s fantastic, and second, you can’t be in a group of six or more people and not know anything about “Squid Game”.  It’s just awkward.

Anyway, there’s an episode where the contestants have to cut shapes out of these little candy discs called dalgona, which is really hard because they’re so brittle.  And if you watch the show, you know that contestants who can’t complete a task DIE.

Well, a candy maker in Seoul named An Yong-hui made those candies, and now, thanks to the show, he can’t keep up with the demand.

According to one report, he can barely go home anymore because people are lined up outside his shop when it opens.  And he’s selling more than 500 of them a day, when he used to sell less than 200.

(On a related note, the phone number people called to become part of the games was actually a real number, and the guy who has it in real life has been getting inundated with calls.)
