Last night’s “Monday Night Football” game between the L.A. Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders took place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But there was lightning in the area, so kickoff ended up being delayed for about 40 minutes.
But here’s the thing: SoFi has a DOME. So what’s the deal with a weather delay in a domed stadium???
That’s what a lot of fans were asking, but there’s a logical answer. While the stadium has a roof, the sides are open. So it makes sense that there can be weather delays at SoFi. But what still doesn’t make sense to me is, why spend MILLIONS of dollars on a dome that DOESN’T keep bad weather out???
Since people are firing off bits at a truly breathtaking rate: SoFi Stadium has a roof, but the sides are open. (See: yellow circle.) There is lightning in the area, hence the danger. pic.twitter.com/gKNCdkvx8a
