Parents make a lot of mistakes, but we hope they don’t cause lasting damage.   Unfortunately for Alexa Penavega, that did happen.  Alexa played Carmen Cortez in the “Spy Kids” movies, but that was, like, 20 years ago.  She’s 33 now.

She just revealed on her Instagram Story that while she was getting the kids ready for bed, she accidentally slammed her 2-year-old son Kingston’s fingers in the hinge of the bathroom door.

And his middle finger was severed from the first knuckle near the tip.   Sadly, doctors were not able to reattach it, but Alexa says he’s handling it “like a champ.”

Obviously, Alexa’s feeling some serious mom guilt, and says this is, “the most traumatic thing we’ve had go through as a family.”  But she added, “If anything, it made us all love each other even more and humbled us completely.”

Then went on to say, “Thankfully, Kingston is already doing flips like nothing happened.  Gosh, I love my babies.”
